Why do we call it a Temporary Login Account?

Activating the “Temporary Login Account” provides you the ability to log in to your institutional subscription via a username (email address) and password on your mobile device, remote laptop, tablet, desktop, etc... This account will be the same as a “My STAT!Ref” account. The “My STAT!Ref” email address and password become a login account, temporarily. Temporary Login Accounts expire 90 days from initial setup, by default. Your institutions decision maker, in regards to STAT!Ref, can request to make the expiration shorter or longer from 30 days up to 365 days.

Warning Message: This My STAT!Ref account was activated for logging in to STAT!Ref under a different subscription. If you need to use this account with a new subscription, please contact technical support for assistance.
This happens occasionally if your institution has or has had access to more than one STAT!Ref subscription. Subscriptions are identified with a unique group alias in all URLs "grpalias=#######". Your My STAT!Ref account is associated with the grpalias that you were connected to when you originally created your account. If you've received this message then you have accessed STAT!Ref through a URL with a different grpalias, one that is not associated with your account. Please call or email support with the email address you signed up with and the name of the institution as it appears at the top of the screen when you are logged in to STAT!Ref. We can find and move if necessary your My STAT!Ref account to the appropriate subscription.

STAT!Ref Resources. Where are they?
All STAT!Ref subscriptions come with value-added resources such as Stedman's Medical Dictionary, PubMed, National Guideline Clearinghouse, MedCalc 3000, APhA PDFs & Nursing Pod casts.
SR Mobile is a streamlined version of the same subscription. Because some of the value-added resources are memory, megabyte and/or Flash intensive, not all resources are available at this time on the mobile version.
Here is a break down of these resources:
  • • Available: Stedman's Medical Dictionary. Stedman's is incorporated into the application. You can highlight a word on the device, click Define, and if found in Stedman's, the definition will appear as a pop-up. On some devices you just need to tap the word.
  • • Available: PubMed. PubMed links in the text are active. You will get a message that you are about to leave the STAT!Ref web site and are given the chance to continue or to cancel. Additional Resource search results are not available in the mobile apps.
  • • Available: National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC). NGC links in the text are active. You will get a message that you are about to leave the STAT!Ref web site and are given the chance to continue or to cancel. Additional Resource search results are not available in the mobile apps.
  • • Available: MedCalc 3000. Scroll to the M's and you'll find Medcalc.
  • • Not at this time: APhA DrugInfo LINE® PDFs.
  • • Not at this time: Nursing Pod Casts. Note: These Pod Casts are Mp3 files and can be downloaded to your Mp3 player. Access your STAT!Ref subscription while IP Authenticated, go to the home page, locate the Nursing Pod Cast Panel and follow the download instructions located there.
My access was seamless when I was at work, but now that I'm home, I'm being prompted for a username and password. Why?
From school or work you were connected to your WLAN or were being routed through a proxy server and STAT!Ref recognized that you were an authorized user via a registered IP address. Once you left the range of the recognized IP address, STAT!Ref prompted you for a username and password. Setup a prefrences account and download one of the available STAT!Ref Mobile Apps and you will be able to access STAT!Ref on your mobile from anywhere via user name and password. See Mobile App information on this web page.
If you still have difficulty please contact support or your librarian.
I can access STAT!Ref® Mobile but it seems to be very slow.
You may want to search the Internet for your model of mobile device and look up its specifications. Look specifically under Network Specifications to make sure your device is wireless enabled. STAT!Ref Mobile works best on a WLAN versus just a cellular connection. While access over a cellular network will work, it is recommended that a WLAN is used to access STAT!Ref Mobile.

Is Anatomy.tv supported?
Yes. To access Anatomy.tv you will need a direct URL or you will need to access from the web version of STAT!Ref. The mobile version through an app does not contain a link to Anatomy.tv. Anatomy.tv works well on most tablets and although it can be viewed on most smart phones because of the dynamic content we suggest using a larger device for accessing and using the application.
What is the best way to renew a Temporary Login Account?
The best way to renew your Temporary Login Account is to go back to the original place where you created your account (school library, faculty intranet resources page, etc…). If that is not possible, try logging into your institution via a proxy or by using an institutional login. Access your institutions website and do a search for STAT!Ref. If that fails, search for AAFP Conditions A to Z. All STAT!Ref subscriptions have this title. Once you find a link into STAT!Ref from your institution, you can go to My STAT!Ref refer to the How to Create - Activate - Enable & Renew - section on this web page on how to renew your login.
Can I use the Temporary Login Account for more than logging into the app
You can use your Temporary Login Account from any device (Desktop, Laptop, Tablet or Smartphone) with a modern browser and an internet connection. Just go to the home page of this website: www.statref.com and login.
Can a Temporary Login Account can be renewed even after it has expired?
Yes, you can still renew even if your login expires. You just won't be able to use the app until you renew the Temporary Login Account. Please refer to the How to Create - Activate - Enable & Renew - section on this web page on how to renew your login.
Why can't I renew my login account from the app?
You CANNOT renew your Temporary Login Account FROM the mobile app. You will need to access STAT!Ref using the "Create" or "Renew" login method in order to renew your Temporary Login Account.
To protect a subscription from unauthorized use, it is required that users re-authenticate their My STAT!Ref Temporary Login Accounts by logging in to their My STAT!Ref account while either IP authenticated, with a Full User login (not all subscriptions are setup with full user accounts) or by accessing via a proxy server. This makes sure that faculty or students who have moved on can no longer access STAT!Ref through your subscription taking up a concurrency that otherwise should be available to current users.
I'm getting a message, "Browser is not compatible". What does that mean?
Your device probably has a proprietary browser that is not supported by or compatible with STAT!Ref. We suggest that you download an additional browser to your device and then try searching STAT!Ref again. You can search the Internet for a 3rd party browser that is compatible with your device. Some suggested browsers are: Safari, Google Chrome, HTML Internet Browser, Media Net, Openwave, Opera Mini, Minuet, and NetFront.
